A1749a. The crucifixion of Jesus Christ in a hand painted leaded stained glass window

£1,900.00

My favourite feature is one you can’t see from the first photo. See the red snake in photo seven!

Measurements:
Frame 530mm (width) x 1725mm (height) x 40mm (depth).
Glass 456mm x 1655mm.
Mm to inches converter.

Weight: 13.1kg

Condition
As shown in the final photo there is one small piece of glass which has a gap between the lead. This is not a break, it’s where the glass has slipped down from its encasement. It could be fixed if this area is recemented or filled with dark putty. The frame is very basic; it serves merely to protect when handling. It deserves something very special, take a look at the type of frame Simon could make for you.

Viewing
I don’t normally offer viewings of my stock, it’s usually “click and collect” only. But as this is a high value item, there’s an option to view if a deposit of Ā£100 is paid. This deposit is only refundable if you visit to view the window within five days of paying the deposit. To pay the deposit please click here. If you visit within five days and decide you don’t want the window then I’ll refund. The deposit is requested as a gesture to prove you’re a serious buyer.

I don’t have any provenance. All I can say is that I bought it from an auction house in Cornwall. I was advised it was from a house in Cornwall.

General shipping advice
To see if a listing offers a shipping price please add it to the cart. If the cart only says “local pickup” then please contact me stating your country. This website usually recognises where in the world you are viewing from but it could be I have not set a shipping price for any country as the item requires greater consideration given its size/fragility. Any shipping price shown on my website is for a parcel courier service suchĀ as DHL.Ā Here are examples of my packaging.

Combined shipping
Please always ask me for aĀ combined shipping price, regardless of what total the cart shows. This is because the cart:

  • is not capableĀ of computing aĀ discount for combined shipping
  • has a quirk where if you select a listing thatĀ offers shipping but also select another which does not, it will still process your order, not making it clear that one is not eligible for shipping!

UK delivery
The UK shipping checkout prices, if provided, are for delivery anywhere on the UK mainland, excluding the Scottish Highlands. If you are considering buying large items or a large quantity of small items then it might be possible to reduce this cost if your order can be personally delivered. Myself or an independent ā€œman with a vanā€ courier will take responsibility for ensuring it is delivered in the condition as advertised but rarely will packaging be provided.

Insurance for loss/damage in transit
It is very rare that I receive reports of loss or damage. Should this happen I will work with you to put it right. In the event of damage your full costs will not necessarily be refunded – it would depend on the extent of damage compared to the reasonable cost of repair. If when your package is being deliveredĀ you suspect any damage then as a precaution sign “DAMAGED” in capital letters as this can help the claims procedure. Any claim for damage must be submitted to me seven days from when the tracking has been recorded as “delivered” and clear photographic evidence must be provided.

Import duty/taxes
International buyers are responsible for paying any import charges.Ā Please click hereĀ for some advice specific to countries I regularly send to.

Bulk purchase by international trade buyers
If you want to purchase on a large scale then I can send using myĀ palletised crate serviceĀ but you might want to consider arranging your own shipping method for maximum economy of scale. Please read myĀ international trade pageĀ for further advice.

My thoughts about shipping
My definition of the word “shipping” includes the laborious task of packaging – not just the cost of carriage. I don’t take any particular pleasure in packaging but it is a necessity to sustain my love of dealing inĀ glass. It is always my preference that customers collect if possible.
